Coastal View Lifestyle Village
Coastal View Village, located in Nelson, is an aged care and residential project by Qestral Corporation Ltd, designed to provide a high-quality living environment with extensive care and lifestyle facilities.
The development includes:
- 250 houses
- A 60-bed Care Centre
- A 32-bed Dementia Facility
- 46 Apartments
- A Lodge and Pavilion
- A Maintenance Shed
The project involved significant earthworks, with 900,000 cubic metres of soil moved to level two hills and fill two gullies, creating flat, buildable land atop a hill. This extensive reshaping of the landscape allowed for optimal use of the site.
Collaboration with the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) was crucial to install new traffic lights on Waimea Road, along with a cycle underpass and improved pedestrian connectivity. A new road was also constructed to provide access from Princess Drive.
The project team worked closely with the local council and residents of Highview Drive to manage construction traffic and ensure minimal disruption. Environmental management was a key focus, especially around Marie Stream, where sediment control measures were strictly followed to meet consent conditions. Additionally, a large-scale revegetation program was implemented, transforming previously gorse-infested berms and slopes into green, well-planted areas.
Coastal View Village integrates careful environmental planning with a comprehensive suite of residential and care facilities, creating a thriving, sustainable community.
