Burlington Lifestyle Village

Burlington Lifestyle Village, located in Redwood, Christchurch, spans a 14.9-hectare site that was formerly marshland, requiring significant earthworks and remediation to prepare the ground for development. This large-scale project is designed to provide high-quality aged care and residential facilities, creating a vibrant community for its residents.

The development includes:

• A 60-bed Care Centre (3490m²)

• A 20-bed Dementia Care Facility (1143m²)

• A 42-apartment Retirement Building with an indoor swimming pool (2745m²)

• 187+ two- to three-bedroom houses

• A Maintenance Shed (121m²)

Civil works were extensive, with significant attention paid to site drainage, including the creation of 3 hectares of man-made lakes that serve as first flush basins connecting to the Council’s drainage system. Due to the site’s proximity to a motorway and large subdivision, careful coordination with the Council was required, particularly in managing historic drains and integrating ecological input.

The development has progressed in stages, with 185 houses completed over 22 stages and stages 23 and 24 currently under construction. The Care Centre, Dementia Unit, and Lodge are now fully operational, providing a range of healthcare services and amenities to residents.

This project involved intricate site management, including the coordination of multiple contractors across civil works, building construction, and landscaping to ensure timely delivery of each phase.
